I have been into Essential Oils since the late 60's. I completed my Aroma Therapy Course in the early 80's I have used only the best theraputic quality oils (or so I thought) including dōTERRA's closest competitors. When my close friend suggested I try dōTERRA I was incredibly sceptical, especially because hey were a Multi Level Marketing company. (oooo NO a pyramid scheeme! baldadash!) So after much convincing I deemed to trial dōTERRA oils, before enrolling to see for myself. I now so believe in dōTERRA! There is NO way I would use any other brand of oil the way I use dōTERRA- but as my mum would say " The proof is always in the Pudding!"
dōTERRA do use "CPTG" (Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade) as their Trade Mark and yes they have coined the phrase- WHY - Because there is currently NO international standard for purity of essential oils. So dōTERRA very proudly created a standard of excellence - (An Extremely High Defined Ethical Standard) which they have proudly and boldly declared as their Trademark! All dōTERRA's oils are thus independently tested - one of the Main testers is Dr Pappas : Who is currently the worlds foremost respected and renown EO scientist. That is also why dōTERRA's co-impact sourcing strategy has come into being.
In the beginning of the company all oils had to be sourced through wholesalers (too far down the line to even be considered middle men) and yes essential oils can be and are frequently adulterated. Growers are in many cases in third world countries, where poverty is a huge issue. Then greed can be a problem with some unscrupulous wholesalers, so quality control is very difficult.
dōTERRA and their close competitor were both caught out with impurities in their oils way back, when sourcing from wholesalers. So can you imagine what happens to smaller companies all of which are forced to purchase from exactly the same wholesalers. To add further concern; after sourcing from these wholesalers some less reputable oil companies intentionally add synthetic fillers and extra carrier oil dilutions to their product to make more profit! No wonder those oils can't be taken internally or used the way Doterra's pure oils can be!
Other companies have 'farms' of their herbs/plants etc.. meaning they are grown in possibly compromised soil. Some competitors solution was to create farms in the USA they produce good quality oils but the plants are not indigenous to the US soil, so they can never be the same as dōTERRA's in their natural chemical components. Now with 'dōTERRA new initiative CO IMPACT SOURCING; Doterra supervises every aspect of quality control from planting ,harvesting, to distilling. If the soil or crop is not to the finest standard the oil is not produced - but the little man, the farmer is not punished; they are still paid so they and their families do not suffer.
In fact dōTERRA getting superior products this way and paying the producer often 2-5 times more than any other company plus providing distilleries, homes, schools, medical centres etc via 'dōTERRA's Healing Hands Association. This is most definitely a Win/Win situation for all concerned . The only drawback is that all the growers are now clamouring to produce solely for dōTERRA Not only all of the above: but with Co- impact sourcingdōTERRA's oils are sourced only from their indigenous land, meaning they are grown in their optimal environment, they were meant to be there and this results in the purest of all oils energetically! dōTERRA have no need for any soil compromisation, herbacides, or pesticides. The soil is it's mother- dōTERRA-means -"Of the Earth-or Gifts of the Earth" So their plants are all of the earth where they are native too and meant to be and grown as organicly as possible! All concerned are very ethical with this radically new co-impact system of production. dōTERRA so concerned with the environment that EOs that are least viable, such as rose etc are only used in mixes or for a one off promotions, or alternatively they go out of stock until whatever difficulty can be remedied.
dōTERRA oils are distilled on site – as part of their co-impact sourcing model. Stills are built in-situ if they are not already there & upgraded if they need be. This means that they have 100% control over the process of extraction and manufacture, from the ground up to the bottle. Once distilled the oils are packed for transport to the USA where they have a state of the art, bottling and labelling facility.
dōTERRA under eight years has become the biggest Essential Oil Company in the world. They have finished stage one of their new state of the art campus in Utah, they continually evolve new exciting research in their incredible science labourites, and hire the best scientists and researchers available. dōTERRA are rapidly growing and expanding so much of the profits are ploughed into research. Does a company grow that fast when the research, product or service is of poor standard or unethical? I do not think so! The company also rates highly on the Forbes listing of ethcal reliable companies. At the International dōTERRA in Utah I was thoroughly impressed by the compassion authenticity and ethics of the dōTERRA.
dōTERRA truly are of service to the whole, the spiritual ethos of the company is all encompassing. What they are undertaking in dōTERRA's International Humanitarian Projects is absolutely astounding. I was in tears so much of the conference because I was so deeply moved to be part of such an amazing foundation. This deep loving concern passes from the founders down through the company where each person is seen as an integral part of the whole. The best education is available to Wellness Advocates from the research and medical practitioners within dōTERRA are claim compliant and less is always best, the product is amazing. I take it internally every day in fact my MD who I have not seen in years told me recently that I looked 10 years younger than when I had last seen him and asked what I had been doing? Oh yeah the proof is in the pudding! Regards and Oily Blessings Kali-Ma
